Review by SmoothJazz.com

This San Francisco guitarist has managed to masterfully merge Smooth Jazz and world jazz fusion on his exceptional self-titled release by blending charismatic grooves with melodic yet progressive melodies. Keith started playing at the age of 10 and when his family relocated to the Bay Area from Baltimore, he found himself surrounded by guitar inspiration in the City by the Bay where the music scene has always been rich and fertile. Yearning for more, his studies took him to Los Angeles where he had the opportunity to learn from jazz and blues greats such as Robben Ford and Joe Pass. In addition, Keith founded the dynamic L.A. Jazz/R&B ensemble Himalaya. Since returning to San Francisco, Keith has enjoyed much opportunity and success with his music including a feature in the indie film, “Loving Alfie,” performing often at many of the City’s popular venues with his own original band and of course, the release of this hot, new CD! KEITH ANDREW the album is a decidedly fresh approach to instrumental music. It is filled with energy, drive and flavor. It is not audio wallpaper or easy listening music. Imagine Boney James with a guitar, not a saxophone, then add elements of fusion and a ‘no fear’ vibe and well, you’ll have this killer new project. Stand out tracks include the radio-friendly “Samasama,” the groovalicous “Pookie’s Groove,” and the deep and intriguing “Extreme.” We’re fans, we’re hooked and we’re anxiously awaiting more from this talented contneder.
